Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Mortgage Funder to lead the execution of commercial mortgage transactions from credit approval through funding, renewal, and discharge.
This role requires a professional who has personally driven commercial mortgage files end-to-end and who possesses a deep working understanding of security structures, registrations, and closing mechanics. The successful candidate will maintain momentum across legal, credit, treasury, investor, broker, and borrower stakeholders in a fast-moving transaction environment.
This position requires a professional with substantial experience in commercial mortgage funding or commercial real estate transactions within a bank, credit union, monoline lender, private lender, or commercial real estate law environment — provided that experience includes direct responsibility for transaction execution and security.
Any experience in commercial agriculture will be an asset to this role.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Transaction Execution
- Own commercial mortgage files from approval through funding, renewal, and discharge
- Convert credit decisions into executable funding, closing, and security requirements
- Maintain transaction control across all internal and external stakeholders
Security & Closing Management
- Interpret and implement complex security structures, including mortgages, guarantees, collateral security, and priority arrangements
- Issue and manage solicitor instructions and oversee the full closing documentation process
- Review solicitor reporting and verify satisfaction of all conditions and security requirements prior to funding or discharge
- Coordinate registrations, discharges, and post-closing deliverables
Funding & Disbursement
- Prepare funding statements and loan advances
- Manage deposits, disbursements, interest adjustments, and reporting deadlines
- Execute funding requests and coordinate capital calls with Treasury and investor partners
Compliance & Risk
- Coordinate AML and conflict-of-interest requirements
- Ensure security packages meet internal policy and investor standards
- Maintain complete, compliant, auditable transaction files
Renewals & Servicing
- Manage renewals, security updates, and file maintenance
- Oversee full discharge process through file closure
Stakeholder Leadership
- Act as primary transaction lead for internal teams, solicitors, brokers, investors, and borrowers
- Support Investment Committee documentation and follow-up
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5+ years of direct commercial mortgage funding / closing experience as a paralegal or funder within a financial institution
- Proven responsibility for executing commercial mortgage transactions end-to-end
- Strong working knowledge of commercial mortgage security, registrations, and closing processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders
- Exceptional organization, judgment, and communication skills
Assets
- Experience with Mortgage Automator, Filogix, Teraview, or similar transaction platforms
- Exposure to agricultural or alternative lending environments
