As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying actuarial expertise to real-world insurance products while working closely with product managers, developers, and insurance carriers to deliver innovative technology solutions.
About the Role
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will serve as a subject matter expert for life insurance and annuity products. You will lead the implementation and maintenance of products within our illustration platform, interpret complex product specifications, validate actuarial calculations, and provide guidance to product and development teams.
You will work directly with insurance carrier clients to ensure our software accurately reflects their product designs, actuarial formulas, and regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on products used by insurers across the United States and Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of life insurance and annuity products within our illustration platform.
- Interpret complex product specifications, actuarial formulas, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop prototypes for new products and features to support proof-of-concept and innovation initiatives.
- Perform detailed testing and reconcile results against carrier illustration systems and actuarial specifications.
- Analyze new product launches, product changes, and regulatory updates, and assess their impact on existing implementations.
- Translate actuarial requirements into functional specifications for the development team.Collaborate with software developers, product managers, QA analysts, and carrier actuarial teams throughout implementation projects.
- Investigate complex calculation issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support client implementations, product upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and implementation guides.
- Provide actuarial and product expertise to internal teams and clients.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with life insurance and/or annuity products.
- Hands-on experience interpreting product specifications, actuarial formulas, and insurance product calculations.
- Experience supporting re-proposals, renewals, and new business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, including premium calculations, policy values, cash values, surrender values, death benefits, and policy projections.
- Experience validating actuarial calculations and reconciling results against carrier systems or product specifications.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and business audiences.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- ASA/FSA designation or significant progress toward designation.
- Programming or scripting experience.
- Experience with life insurance and annuity illustration systems.
- Experience with actuarial modeling tools such as AXIS, Prophet, MG-ALFA, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with U.S. and/or Canadian insurance regulations.
- Experience working with insurance carriers or insurance technology vendors.
- Familiarity with AI tools.
