Summary

The Technician is responsible for diligently maintaining, repairing and servicing customer vehicles to ensure both customer safety and satisfaction while contributing to overall departmental success. A key priority for a technician is to instill brand loyalty and ensure a positive customer service experience.

The Technician has excellent communication skills and is able to listen and discern as well as execute all requirements in the Service process. The technician can focus on the big-picture without missing any of the details and delivers results. They continually strive to become an expert in their field so that the service provided is above customer expectations.

A Technician upholds the dealerships’ standards and values so that the customer is fully satisfied through every interaction with the service department. As a team player, the Technician fosters positive relationships with personnel in all areas of the dealership.

A tire and lube technician provides essential preventative maintenance and light repairs for vehicles, primarily focusing on lubrication systems and tire health. This entry-level role is often the first step in an automotive career, found in our dealership.

Core Responsibilities;

Lubrication Services: Perform oil and filter changes, grease moving parts (chassis, engine components, wheel bearings), and top off essential fluids like transmission, brake, and power steering fluids.
Tire Maintenance: Install, balance, and rotate tires; repair punctures; and check tire pressure and tread depth for safety.
Vehicle Inspections: Conduct multi-point safety checks, identifying leaks, worn hoses, or damaged belts, and documenting findings in service reports.
Light Repairs: Replace air/cabin filters, windshield wipers, batteries, and light bulbs.
Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety regulations, including proper hazardous waste disposal (e.g., used oil).
Customer Interaction: Greet customers, explain recommended services based on vehicle history, and provide accurate cost estimates

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: High school diploma and/ or post-secondary automotive certificate.
Certifications: Registered Ontario apprenticeship is often preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, stand for long shifts, and work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, loud noises).
Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of hand tools (wrenches, pliers) and shop equipment (lifts, tire changers, balancers).
Licensing: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is mandatory to move vehicles into service bays.

Pay: $20.00-$33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
