The Opportunity
Reporting to the Community Experience Supervisor, the Guest Services Attendant serves as the first point of contact for patrons at the Manluk Centre and provides a high level of customer service while supporting the safe and enjoyable use of recreation facilities, programs, and events. Staff are scheduled in roles that include front desk cashier and slide attendant duties, which involve enforcing slide rules, ensuring patron safety, and completing opening and closing procedures for both facility and slide operations. This position operates within established guidelines, responds promptly to inquiries and concerns, and maintains strong knowledge of all recreation programs, schedules, and general departmental information.
Responsibilities
Customer Service Desk
- Handles daily admissions, memberships, and program registrations.
- Coordinates room bookings.
- Confirm facility bookings and payments and oversee the distribution and collection of rental keys.
- Understanding of recreation programs and amenities & ability to provide accurate information to the public.
- Follow appropriate emergency response procedures according to facility protocols.
- Completes assigned daily duties and cleaning tasks.
- Responsible for following opening and closing procedures.
- Ensures accurate balancing of daily transactions and performs cash out procedures.
- Regular check ins on Fitness Centre as required.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
- Demonstrates professionalism by keeping a clean, presentable appearance and behaving in an appropriate manner, as per City Directives.
- Being prompt and prepared for each shift.
Slides
- Understanding and enforcement of waterslide rules.
- Monitor public safety by enforcing slide rules to all users.
- Participate in overall operations and maintenance of slides, including completing opening and closing procedures.
Hours of Work
- Employees are required to fulfill a minimum of two (2) scheduled shifts per pay period, with one of these shifts falling on a weekend or in the evening.
- Employees must maintain availability for a flexible work schedule, which may include shifts during the morning, mid-day, evening and on weekends.
- The hours of work per week may vary based on operational needs and cannot always be projected however, anticipated hours are approximately from two (2) up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
- Attendance at mandatory training sessions is expected outside of regular work week hours
Education, Qualifications, and Work Experience
- Minimum enrollment in Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Confident and capable with technology usage.
- Experience with When-To-Work, Dayforce, Active-Net or similar programs are considered assets.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs.
- Intermediate First Aid is preferred.
- Experience handling cash and processing a variety of payment methods, including cash, debit, credit, cheques, and electronic payments.
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience.

Physical Effort and Safety Commitment
This position is considered a light safety sensitive position which includes light effort including but not limited to the following:
- Standing, walking, climbing, stairs, kneeling manual dexterity, visual acuity, climbing ladders, balancing, crawling, crouching, depth perception, lifting up to 20 lbs.
The employee is responsible for full cooperation with all aspects of the City’s Occupational Health and Safety program, including compliance with all rules and regulations, and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties, and monitor and enforce subordinate compliance with the OH&S program.
