Engineer in Training

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Role Overview
As Mine Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you will play a strategic role in supporting safe and efficient underground mining operations. You will gain exposure to multiple engineering disciplines by rotating through key areas of the Engineering Department. Working closely with the Senior Mine Engineer and experienced team members, you will contribute to planning, design, and operational improvement initiatives while developing your technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Mine Planning & Design: Assist in the planning and design of underground construction, ventilation systems, and mine layouts.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Support production scheduling and coordination of engineering activities.
- Water Management: Contribute to water management planning and monitoring to support safe operations.
- Engineering Support: Provide technical support across multiple engineering functions during departmental rotations.
- General Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
What You Bring to the Table
- 1–3 years of experience in underground mining operations, with exposure to planning or surveying considered an asset.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and contribute effectively in a team-oriented technical environment.
- Sc. in Mine Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Eligible for registration with a Professional Engineering Organization (EIT status preferred).
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience with Deswik or other mine planning software is an asset.
- Accreditation in Underground Common Core modules is an asset.
- A strong commitment to safety and a positive, proactive attitude.
- Passion for underground mining and continuous professional development.

Pay/Shift Range: $62,250 CAD - $112,150 CAD
