We are growing our Canadian Integrated Planning practice. Our team works with a range of key clients in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and with clients and colleagues elsewhere in Canada and in the United States. We are looking for someone to support major project delivery and business development activities for our key clients in the transit market.
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager – Transportation Planning / Bus Rapid Transit in our Toronto office to help lead our efforts. Current transportation planning projects being undertaken by our team include work for the public and private sector relating to multi-modal transportation planning, transit planning, integrated land use and transport planning, accessibility analyses, business case preparation, pedestrian modelling and GIS.
The opportunity

Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of transportation planning and transit projects, including BRT, transit priority corridors, mobility hubs, and related infrastructure initiatives

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across planning, engineering, and urban design to deliver high-quality, integrated solutions

Build and maintain strong client relationships with public agencies and stakeholders across Ontario and beyond

Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk, ensuring successful project outcomes

Guide and mentor team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment

Support business development activities, including contributing to proposals and client engagement opportunities

Represent Arup in client meetings, workshops, and presentations, including public-facing engagements

Work on major transit and BRT programs shaping the future of mobility in the GTHA and across North America

Collaborate with Arup’s global transit and transportation practice

Is this role right for you?

Degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or a related discipline
-
Professionally licensed in Canada (e.g. RPP, P.Eng.) (or readily transferable)

Approximately 10 to 15 years of professional experience in transportation or transit planning and design

Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to complex transportation or transit projects
-
Familiarity with agencies such as Metrolinx, MTO, TransLink, municipalities, or equivalent organizations globally

Experience working with public sector clients or transit operators
-
Strong project management, coordination, and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to win work through client relationships and proposal writing

Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments

Experience with bus rapid transit (BRT), transit priority, or major transit programs

Experience in the GTHA or other major Canadian/international transit markets

Toronto Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $130,000 to $140,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note, hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
