Bookkeeper

Job Type: Full-time
Location: Charlottetown, PEI
Salary: $60,000–$75,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Work Location: In-office — this is not a remote or work-from-home position

About the Position

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Charlottetown. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting transactions, and supporting the overall financial administration of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy business environment.

The position is supported by an in-office CPA who will be available to provide guidance, answer questions, and offer direction as needed. This provides the successful candidate with a valuable resource for more complex accounting matters while still allowing them to take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records
Record and reconcile daily financial transactions
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare and process invoices, payments, and deposits
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Prepare financial reports and summaries as required
Assist with payroll and related records
Prepare information for month-end and year-end accounting
Assist with GST/HST filings and other government remittances
Work closely with management and the in-office CPA
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required

Qualifications

Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with accounting/bookkeeping software such as Sage, Xero, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
High level of integrity and discretion
