Overview
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-focused Delivery Route Driver to join our team. This is a physical, hands-on delivery role that involves more than just driving. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering refrigerated grocery and convenience store products to a wide range of customers, including grocery stores, convenience stores, and other retail locations.
This position includes both skid drops to larger grocery accounts and hand-cart deliveries of milk, dairy, and convenience store products into customer locations. Candidates should understand that this role involves regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering product, often in tight delivery spaces and in all weather conditions.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, treats customers professionally, and understands the importance of delivering product safely, accurately, and on time.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight to designated customer locations.
- Complete local delivery routes involving multiple stops per day.
- Deliver skidded product to grocery stores and unload safely at receiving areas.
- Use a hand cart / dolly to deliver milk, dairy, and convenience store supplies directly into customer locations.
- Load and unload freight, ensuring product is handled properly and secured during transport.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork, logs, and records of mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or customer issues.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers at every stop.
- Follow all traffic laws, company procedures, and safety regulations.
- Assist with warehouse or equipment tasks as required.
What the Job Involves
- Early starts and full delivery days.
- Regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and hand-bombing product.
- Deliveries to a variety of customers, from larger grocery stores with skid drops to smaller stores requiring hand-cart service.
- Handling milk, dairy, and convenience store products in a fast-paced environment.
- Working in refrigerated distribution and dealing with weather, traffic, tight delivery windows, and physical unloading.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous delivery or freight transportation experience preferred.
- Experience with grocery, dairy, or convenience store deliveries is an asset.
- Ability to perform physical work daily, including lifting and moving product throughout the shift.
- Comfortable using hand carts, pallet jacks, and other delivery equipment safely.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication skills and a team-first attitude.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in dealing with customers and coworkers.
- Must be able to pass background checks and any required drug screening under company policy.
