Levert is recruiting a Mine Survey & Ventilation Technologist to support a major underground mining operation in Sudbury, Ontario. This role is responsible for providing accurate survey control, mine layouts, ventilation planning, and technical support to ensure safe and efficient underground operations.
Our client is a large-scale underground mining joint venture in the Sudbury Basin focused on the development of critical mineral resources. The operation offers employees the opportunity to contribute to a modern mining project that supports innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth in Northern Ontario. This is a contract position – scheduled until mid 2027.

About the Role:
Supporting mine development, production, and construction activities. Working closely with Mine Planning and Operations teams, you will coordinate underground survey activities, develop layouts, support ventilation systems, and ensure compliance with applicable mining and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and provide survey control for mine development headings, stopes, construction projects, and underground infrastructure.

Prepare and maintain accurate mine plans, layouts, sections, and survey records using current surveying technology and software.

Calculate and verify survey data, development advances, quantities, and production measurements.

Issue breakthrough warnings and other required notifications to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Develop and distribute mine development, production, and construction layouts in accordance with engineering standards.

Communicate survey information, findings, and technical data to Operations and Mine Planning teams.

Collect, analyze, and report operational and survey data to support planning and decision-making.

Support and coordinate auxiliary ventilation and environmental control systems for underground operations.

Assist with the procurement, installation, and tracking of ventilation equipment and infrastructure.

Maintain diesel equipment records and ventilation-related documentation as required by legislation and company standards.

Participate in mine planning, scheduling, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide technical guidance and support to Engineers-in-Training and operational personnel.
Qualifications
-
Two-year diploma in Mining Engineering Technology, Mine Engineering Technology, or related mining discipline.

Experience in underground mine surveying, mine planning, ventilation, or mine technical services is considered an asset.

Knowledge of underground mining methods, mine layouts, and ventilation systems.

Familiarity with mine surveying equipment, software, and mine planning systems.

Strong understanding of Ontario mining regulations, health and safety requirements, and industry best practices.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions

Majority of work underground in an active mining environment.

Remaining time spent in an engineering or technical services office setting.

Must be comfortable working in varying underground conditions and conducting field inspections.
