Civil Construction Labourers

Infracon Construction is seeking hardworking, experienced construction labourers to support an undergound utility installation project near Chetwynd, BC.

We are looking for Labourers to work on our Construction Project team we are adding to our site team immediately. Locals close to the project site will be given preference for these opportunities. The ideal candidates have previous civil construction labouring and utility installation experience and must be accountable, reliable, and adaptable to all working conditions.

No Excuses. is our most important core value, the successful candidate(s) must embody our Health, Safety and Environment Program by participating, implementing and holding yourself and others accountable to all elements of the Program. Successful candidate(s) will participate in safety meetings, hazard assessment (JHA, FLHA…etc.).

Scope of Construction Activities:

Detailed excavation & placement of structural fill
Deep utilities – installation of water, storm, and sanitary (pipe, manholes, catch basins, detention tanks)
Shallow utilities – site electrical trenching, backfill, light base install
Spotting & flagging for work scopes

Responsibilities:

Prepare and clean work site, load / unload materials, assist in dig ditches, align pipes and remove workplace hazards.
Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment
Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
Safely operating small equipment such as packers, skid steers.
Direct traffic at or near construction sites as requested
Sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
Perform work following all construction safety protocols and programs
Timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork
Other responsibilities to support the safe and successful completion of the project.

Requirements:

1-2 years’ civil construction industry experience is preferred
Previous experience with performing pipe, sewer and underground utility installs is ideal
Valid Class 5 driver's licence is preferred.
Small equipment operation (packer, skid steer) experience is considered an asset
Completion of CSTS-2020, Ground Disturbance, and Confined space training will be required prior to commencing the project.
Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
Capable of working with minimal supervision
Ability to follow directions closely
Comfortable working in high-stress environment with weather fluctuations
Familiar with construction industry safety standards and procedures
Valid Driver's License and clean drivers abstract
Drug and Alcohol testing

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Work is outdoors, and conditions may include extreme temperatures and uneven ground. Position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, reach and kneel.

Compensation: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. The company can offer competitive wages, ongoing training, growth opportunities, and a culture built on determination, teamwork, and integrity.
