We are currently looking for a highly skilled Controller. The Controller, under the guidance of the CFO, will lead a highly skilled financial team to oversee the full-cycle accounting processes at PCFP.
Job Overview
The Controller is responsible for leading the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, the effectiveness of financial controls, and the alignment of financial strategy with operational performance. This role oversees full-cycle accounting, financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, and compliance activities within a manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is a hands-on leader who combines strong technical expertise with operational insight. This position plays a critical role in supporting business decision-making, optimizing ERP systems, and developing a high-performing finance team.

Job Responsibilities
Financial Oversight and Reporting
- Lead all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and executive-level insights
- Ensure compliance with ASPE standards, internal controls, and corporate policies
- Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure successful and timely completion
Manufacturing and Operational Finance
- Oversee cost accounting, including product costing, standard costing, and inventory valuation
- Analyze margins, production costs, and operational efficiencies to support business performance
- Partner with operations to understand key drivers impacting financial results
- Monitor and manage working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables
- Oversee cash flow management, forecasting, and credit/collections processes
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Strategic Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process across departments
- Develop rolling forecasts and provide monthly variance analysis with actionable recommendations
- Support strategic planning initiatives through financial modeling and scenario analysis
- Provide insights to leadership to support data-driven decision-making
Tax, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations, including GST/HST, PST, and corporate income tax filings
- Support cross-border financial activities, including U.S. tax and reporting requirements (e.g., Nexus, 1099s)
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to regulatory and financial compliance requirements
- Identify and mitigate financial risks across the organization
Systems and Process Optimization
- Act as the finance lead for ERP systems (Dynamics NAV/D365), including enhancements, upgrades, and process improvements
- Drive automation and efficiency in financial workflows and reporting
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to enhance visibility into financial and operational performance
- Ensure data integrity and alignment between financial and operational systems
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to build capability and accountability
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and support career development
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance
- Ensure appropriate staffing, structure, and workload balance within the finance team
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Business Partnership
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to align financial and operational objectives
- Translate financial results into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Support business initiatives, capital investments, and process improvements with financial analysis
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and cost optimization
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial analysis in manufacturing
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, Power Query, financial modeling)
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV or D365
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations; experience with U.S. cross-border considerations is an asset
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into business insights
