PROGRAM RELIEF WORKER
Full-Time, ongoing as-needed casual contract

Hourly Rate: $20, depending on experience

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Delivery & Participant Support
· Provide seamless reception and drop-in services, welcoming participants and explaining available supports
- Community Resource navigation.
· Prepare and serve meals in the community kitchen, following all food-safety protocols and accommodating dietary needs
· Facilitate activities and small-group discussions that promote social engagement, skill-building, and emotional well-being
· Observe and report behavioural, health, or safety concerns to the relief coordinator or onsite supervisor
Volunteer & Student Engagement
· Monitor and supervise volunteers and students to ensure high-quality service delivery and adherence to guidelines
· Offer on-the-spot training and coaching for new volunteers or student placements
· Address participant or volunteer concerns, escalating any conflicts or incidents in accordance with policy
Administration & Reporting
· Track program metrics, attendance, and meal counts for daily reporting purposes
· Assist with light reception duties—answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining reception area
· Provide feedback on program strengths, opportunities, and operational challenges for continuous improvement
QualificationsEducation & Experience
· Post-secondary diploma in Social Services, Community Development, or related field preferred
· Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a social services, food-security, or community-support role
· Demonstrated ability to work with individuals facing poverty, housing precarity, mental-health or substance-use challenges
Skills & Attributes
· Empathy & Cultural Humility: Skilled at building rapport with diverse populations
· Food-Safety Competency: Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain) and kitchen experience
· Communication: Clear, compassionate verbal and written skills
· Teamwork & Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
· Basic Computer Literacy: Proficient with MS Office and client-management databases
Working Conditions
· Onsite work required at Fontbonne Ministries, 791 Queen Street East
· Casual schedule with shifts ranging across daytime, evenings, and occasional weekends
· Comfortable working in a faith-based, community setting
