Overview
Fast Mechanical Plus is seeking a skilled, licensed, and safety-focused Sheet Metal Worker to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, and mechanical construction projects, with a strong understanding of HVAC sheet metal systems, fabrication, installation, blueprint reading, and Ontario construction safety requirements.
The ideal applicant must possess a valid Ontario Sheet Metal Worker Certificate of Qualification and be committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining compliance with all applicable Ontario health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, modify, and repair HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems.
- Measure, cut, bend, and form sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Install ductwork, fittings, dampers, access doors, louvers, grilles, diffusers, and related HVAC components.
- Coordinate work with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades.
- Perform field measurements and verify dimensions prior to fabrication and installation.
- Operate equipment such as lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and material handling equipment safely.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Complete daily reports, safety documentation, and project-related paperwork as required.
- Follow all company policies, Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements, and site-specific safety procedures.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid Ontario Sheet Metal Worker Certificate of Qualification (308A or equivalent recognized trade certification).
- Minimum 1-3 years of sheet metal/HVAC installation experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and institutional HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with SMACNA standards and sheet metal fabrication practices.
- Valid Working at Heights certification.
- Valid WHMIS certification.
- Knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Construction Projects Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91), and safe work practices.
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred
- Lift equipment certifications (Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, Forklift).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience working in schools, hospitals, government facilities, and commercial buildings.
- Experience with duct fabrication and shop equipment.

- Hazard identification, reporting, and incident prevention.
