Editorial Assistant / Office Assistant

We are seeking an Editorial Assistant / Office Assistant to join our growing team. This is an in-office position offering a variety of responsibilities across editorial, client relations, administration, and event support. The ideal candidate is organized, outgoing, detail-oriented, and enjoys both writing and working with people.

The Role

Assist with editorial content and magazine production.
Gather advertising commitments and communicate with existing and prospective advertisers.
Build and maintain positive client relationships.
Complete writing assignments, proofreading, editing, and other editorial tasks.
Draft and distribute press releases.
Attend evening community, networking, and industry events on behalf of the publication.
Manage data entry tasks accurately using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Handle administrative responsibilities including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
Provide clerical and administrative support for editorial projects and office operations.
Perform basic bookkeeping and financial record-keeping tasks.
Respond to customer and client inquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner.
Contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization by supporting various administrative and operational tasks as assigned.

Compensation

$22–$25 per hour

Schedule

30–35 hours per week
Monday to Friday, with occasional evening events.

Skills and Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong proofreading, editing, and writing abilities.
Comfortable networking and speaking with clients and advertisers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Professional, outgoing, and self-motivated.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Editorial experience is considered an asset.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.

Experience

2+ years of administrative, editorial, communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience preferred.
Experience in customer service, client relations, publishing, or media is considered an asset.

This position is ideal for candidates who are proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment while developing their administrative expertise.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
