About the Role
We pride ourselves on delivering seamless supply solutions that keep our clients ahead of the curve. PPC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented North American Supply Chain Specialist to support the movement of chilled and frozen meat products across North America.
This role will focus on coordinating product shipments, managing relationships with supply chain partners, and ensuring all documentation complies with the requirements of relevant government agencies and internal procedures. As part of our North American team and reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play an important role in supporting day-to-day operations and improving overall team performance.
We are not looking for someone who simply checks documentation. We are looking for a creative, energetic, and solutions-focused individual who can think quickly, take initiative, and develop practical solutions when challenges arise.
Key Responsibilities
Trucking Coordination | Execution
- Negotiate and maintain trucking and warehousing rates
- Schedule, coordinate, and execute temperature-controlled truck shipments across North America
- Manage pickup appointments, delivery appointments, shipment tracking, and schedule updates.
- Monitor shipments, proactively communicate, and help resolve service issues.
- Work closely with trucking companies, warehouses, suppliers, customers, customs brokers, government agencies and internal teams.
Documentation | Compliance
- Prepare, review, and maintain shipping documentation.
- Coordinate shipments with customs broker agencies when required.
- Ensure shipping documents, labeling, and delivery requirements are accurate and complete.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in internal systems
- Identify and resolve documentation or cross-border issues before they impact delivery timelines.
- Preserve compliance with government related requirements
Warehouse | Inventory
- Coordinate with warehouses on inbound receipts, outbound releases, transfers, and pickups.
- Support inventory tracking and reconciliation across multiple warehouse and storage locations.
- Work with internal teams to ensure product movement aligns with customer requirements, inventory availability, and delivery schedules.
Cost Management | Carrier Performance
- Review, validate, and support approval of freight, warehouse, brokerage, and service invoices.
- Analyze transportation costs and recommend efficient routing or carrier options.
- Help build and maintain strong carrier relationships across North America.
- Monitor carrier performance, service levels, delivery reliability, and issue resolution capacity.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve service, and strengthen PPC’s overall performance.
External | Internal Coordination
- Represent PPC as a logistics contact for customers, suppliers, carriers, warehouses, and internal teams.
- Communicate proactively with customers and sales representatives regarding order status and delivery timelines.
- Respond promptly to incoming communication from internal and external interested parties
- Collaborate closely with sales, trading, operations, and finance teams to support seamless order fulfillment.
- Resolve transportation, warehousing, and supply chain issues in a timely and professional manner.
What We Are Looking For
Education | Experience
- Post-secondary education in Logistics Operations, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Transportation, or a related field is considered an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in trucking logistics, freight forwarding, dispatch, supply chain, or customer service.
- Experience with temperature-controlled food, meat, agriculture, or commodity logistics is considered a strong asset.
- Cross-border logistics experience is considered an asset.
Technical Skills | Knowledge
- Working knowledge of North American trucking, warehouse coordination, freight scheduling, and shipment tracking.
- Familiarity with cross-border documentation and customs broker coordination is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with inventory, dispatch, or transportation management systems is considered an asset.
Communication | Eligibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and deadlines at the same time.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, carriers, warehouses, brokers, and internal teams.
- English required.
- Spanish, French preferred.
- Additional languages are considered an asset.
- Candidates must be eligible for unrestricted full-time work in Canada.
- Candidates must be able to commute to our office in Midtown Toronto.
