102.7 CHOP FM is a CRTC community licensed radio station broadcasting from the campus of Pickering College. The station is committed to amplifying local voices, youth engagement, arts, culture, and meaningful storytelling. As the station continues to grow its audience and community impact, we are seeking an entrepreneurial and mission-driven Assistant Station & Marketing Manager to help build operational sustainability and expand community partnerships.

Position Summary
The Assistant Station & Marketing Manager will support the strategic growth and day-to-day development of the station, with a particular focus on generating sustainable revenue through advertising sales, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
Working closely with station leadership, this founding-growth role is designed for someone who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and is motivated by helping community media organizations grow from the ground up.
In the initial phase, the role will begin with commission on advertising sales, while advertising and sponsorship revenue is developed. A central objective of the position is to help build recurring revenue streams that will support the long-term sustainability of the role itself.
Key Responsibilities
Advertising & Sponsorship Development
- Identify and cultivate local advertising and sponsorship opportunities
- Develop creative advertising packages for on-air, digital, and community programming
- Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, schools, and community partners
- Support sponsorship outreach campaigns and partnership stewardship
- Track advertising leads, contracts, and renewal opportunities
Station Operations & Growth
- Assist with day-to-day coordination of station initiatives and projects
- Support programming promotion, community engagement, and audience development
- Help strengthen organizational systems, workflows, and communications
- Collaborate on strategic planning and growth initiatives
- Participate in special events, outreach activities, and station partnerships
Communications & Community Engagement
- Help develop promotional materials and partnership presentations
- Support social media, newsletters, and audience engagement initiatives
- Represent the station professionally at meetings and community events
- Help advance the station’s mission as a trusted community voice
Qualifications
- Experience in sales, sponsorship, fundraising, communications, media, or community engagement
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset
- Organized with strong follow-through and initiative
- Passion for community media and local storytelling
- Valid Driver’s License and a well functioning vehicle required
Preferred Assets
- Experience in advertising sales or sponsorship development
- Familiarity with radio, broadcasting, podcasts, or digital media
- Experience working in nonprofit, community, or grassroots organizations
- Knowledge of York Region communities and local networks
Compensation Structure
This is commission based role with strong long-term growth potential.
The commission offered is 20% of the advertising packages sold. Although this is a commissioned based role, the incumbent will not earn less than $17.95/hr and have the potential to earn much more.
The position is structured to expand alongside advertising and sponsorship revenue developed through the role. As sustainable revenue increases, the intention is for the position to evolve into a larger compensated leadership opportunity within the station.
