Job description:

Glowinsky Law, based in North York, ON, is seeking a Junior Associate Lawyer with 2-5 years of experience in personal injury litigation and/or insurance defence litigation (tort claims, motor vehicle accidents, dog bites, accident benefits, falls, long-term disability benefits denials, etc.) to join our growing firm.

Attributes of Candidate:

A strong client-service approach
A strong attention to detail and excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful, organized, and work with minimal instruction or supervision
The ability to meet deadlines while reassessing priorities as needed
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) when dealing with lawyers, clients, staff, and third parties
Being proactive and taking initiative in anticipation of the next steps on an assigned task

Responsibilities:

Assisting and reporting to the senior lawyer
Drafting various documents, including correspondence, pleadings, briefs, memoranda, and LAT materials
Attending client meetings, mediations, Examinations for Discovery, and other litigation proceedings
Negotiating settlements of clients’ claims
Communicating with clients, treatment providers, and opposing counsel
Carrying files from client intake and pre-litigation through to resolution, by Trial or otherwise
Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
A minimum of 2-5 years of litigation experience
Excellent writing skills
Experience drafting pleadings and other Court documents
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
