Operations Manager
The Operations Manager oversees all operational functions across the organization within the pump and fluid-handling equipment industry, ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, sales growth, and profitability. The role requires regular presence across multiple locations and is responsible for driving cohesive team performance, operational efficiency, and customer-focused outcomes in equipment sales, service, and support. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Operations Manager ensures consistency, safety, and profitability across all operational areas and business units.
1. Operational Leadership & Team Management
- Provide oversight and leadership for operations across all locations, ensuring consistency in quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in pump sales, service, and support functions.
- Lead and coordinate operational departments, including Inventory, Parts Supply, Counter Sales, Service, Shop Service, Field Service, and Capital Projects.
- Ensure alignment of operational practices across all branches to drive equipment sales, service efficiency, and profitability.
2. Customer-Centric Management
- Promote a culture of customer satisfaction, service excellence, and retention among industrial, commercial, and municipal customers.
- Collaborate with sales teams to convert superior pump repair and service delivery into equipment sales opportunities and revenue growth.
3. Resource & Inventory Optimization
- Manage inventory of pumps, parts, and related equipment, purchasing, logistics, and asset utilization to meet customer demands efficiently.
- Oversee vendor and OEM manufacturer relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness, parts availability, reliability, and responsive service.
4. Service Delivery Excellence
- Ensure high-quality, timely service delivery across field service and in-shop pump repair operations to enhance customer satisfaction and minimize equipment downtime.
- Oversee technician scheduling, technical training, and performance management to optimize service capacity, repair turnaround, and profitability.
5. Profitability and Cost Management
- Monitor and analyze operational costs across service, parts, and equipment sales, identifying opportunities for savings and increased margins.
- Implement strategies for pricing optimization, process efficiency, and revenue growth across product lines and service offerings.
6. Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain rigorous safety and compliance standards across all operational functions, including shop, field service, and warehouse environments.
- Conduct safety training, quality audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to protect staff and company assets when handling industrial equipment.
7. Project Coordination and Execution
- Oversee project execution for pump system installations, upgrades, and capital projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timeliness, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage government or utility incentive opportunities (e.g., energy efficiency programs) to enhance project outcomes.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in operations or branch management roles, preferably within the pump, industrial equipment, or fluid-handling industry
- Proven leadership and people management skills with a focus on accountability and results
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with ERP systems and operational reporting tools
- Knowledge of pump systems, industrial equipment logistics, and safety management best practices
