Summer Camp Counsellor

VRTU is a Muay Thai and fitness studio located in midtown Toronto. We are looking to hire a full-time Summer Camp Counsellor, with a high level of enthusiasm and dedication. They will act as a positive role model for our students, and bring a high amount of organization and creativity to the table. They are eager to pursue a career working with children, and bring forward a “can-do” attitude! They would uphold a friendly and positive demeanour, and know how to have fun while maintaining a sense of authority. We are particularly interested in candidates who have unique skills in areas such as sports, arts & crafts, writing, lego, STEM, dance, music, or martial arts.
* Potential for this role to transition into a permanent role with our kids program once our programming resumes in September.

Job Description
- Attends to and ensures the safety and supervision of children and youth (from ages 4 years – 12 years old) in a variety of active games, crafts, and activities
- Motivates campers to participate in activities by creating a fun, welcoming, and uplifting atmosphere
- Works with a team to create daily and weekly age-appropriate lesson plans for manager review, incorporating a variety of games, arts and crafts, educational activities, and outdoor play.
- Complete attendance and ensure children are signed in and out for camp. Strong attention to students with allergies.
- Assists with sourcing and purchasing items and materials for camp (with reimbursement)
- Oversees LITs (Leaders-in-Training, ages 11-15) to make sure they are participating and contributing positively to the overall camp experience.
- Actively cleans and disinfects the kids area and leaves the room organized after each shift (including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, etc)
- Follows all safety procedures for campers including proper documentation of emergency contact information, attendance, medical information, and storage of medical equipment or supplies
- Delivers a high level of customer service, especially when communicating campers or parents
- Captures photos and videos of students during camp, to be sent out in weekly newsletter
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationship with co-workers and members
- Other duties as assigned, such as assisting with kids birthday parties, special events, kids Muay Thai and fitness classes, or after-school programming
** Please be aware that opening shifts can start as early as 8:00am and closing shifts can end as late as 5:00pm.
** Must complete VRTU's Summer Camp orientation prior to the start of camp.

Position Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp setting
- C.P.R and First Aid certification must be completed prior to start date
- Criminal Record Check
- Minimum of 2 professional references
- Experience in martial arts or fitness is an asset
- Enrolment in ECE or Teachers College is an asset
- Must be available for Orientation dates (June 15 and 26, 2026)
- Must be available all weeks of summer (Jun 29- Aug 28)
