Position overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team on a 1-year contract with the potential for permanent placement. In this role, you will be responsible for managing high-volume AR transactions across multiple sales channels, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and timely invoicing. You will conduct credit risk assessments for B2B customers, maintain account profiles and credit limits, and actively follow up on outstanding balances to support healthy cash flow.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial data integrity, performing account reconciliations, and supporting audits related to sales taxes and regulatory fees. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally, and excellent communication to effectively liaise with internal departments and external partners. A high level of organization, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership are essential to succeed in this fast-paced, large-scale environment.
Responsibilities
- Recording and reconciling transactions (sales and sales return through any sales channels) to appropriate AR accounts with supporting documents
- Perform AR credit risk assessments on B2B customers, set up their profile, and maintain and update their credit limits
- Prepare AR invoices and send them to vendors within diversified required deadlines
- Follow up with suppliers/customers to collect payments for outstanding AR invoices in a timely manner
- Perform AR accounts reconciliation and resolve differences, and assist with sales taxes, Imported GST, EPRA fee related AR audits
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
- Maintain and monitor financial data completeness, confidentiality and accuracy.
- Perform other accounting-related duties as required
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable in a high-volume environment at a large company
- Hands-on experience with large Enterprise Resource Planning systems i.e NetSuite, SAP and Quick Books
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Knowledge of sales tax (HST, PST, QST, CBSA) is an asset
- Previous experience working within a wholesale or retail environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence and effect change
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to manage competing deliverables, problem solve, a strong sense of ownership and urgency
- Strong detail orientation with excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
- Ability to liaise with other departments and ability to communicate
