Job Summary
The Ministry & Communications Coordinator supports the day-to-day ministry, communications, and administrative functions of Summit Community Church (SCC). Working closely with the Director of Operations, staff, and ministry leaders, this role helps coordinate church-wide communications, ministry activities, events, and office operations to ensure information is communicated clearly and ministries are supported effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Ministry & Communications Coordination
- Coordinate communication and information between staff, ministry leaders, the church family, and newcomers in a clear, timely, and welcoming manner.
- Coordinate and distribute weekly eblasts through Constant Contact, working with ministry leaders to gather content, identify communication priorities, and present information in a clear and engaging way.
- Create and schedule social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Design graphics for social media, eblasts, announcements, presentations, ministry promotions, and special events.
- Develop promotional materials including posters, flyers, invitations, and event communications.
- Support ministry leaders with communications, registrations, promotional needs, and administrative coordination.
- Help maintain consistency in Summit's communications, branding, and messaging across ministry areas.
Ministry & Event Support
- Coordinate administrative and logistical support for ministry programs, church-wide initiatives, and special events.
- Work with ministry leaders to help coordinate event details, schedules, registrations, supplies, communications, and other logistical needs.
- Assist with event preparation, catering coordination, supplies, setup, and follow-up as required.
- Provide behind-the-scenes coordination and operational support for church events and ministry activities.
- Assist with occasional local errands related to ministry operations or events.
Administrative & Office Support
- Oversee the main reception area, ensuring a welcoming, responsive, and organized environment during office hours.
- Greet and direct visitors and respond to inquiries in person, by phone, and via email.· Manage the general church inbox and incoming correspondence, responding, redirecting, and flagging priorities as needed.
- Communicate messages, requests, and information clearly and accurately to staff and ministry leaders.
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Operations, staff, and ministry leaders.
- Maintain the church calendar, including event scheduling and facility bookings.
- Support general office operations, including office supplies, mail distribution, printing, and other administrative tasks.
- Assist with printing and distributing ministry, teaching, and event materials.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in administration, communications, marketing, ministry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in administration, communications, ministry coordination, office coordination, or a related support role preferred.
- Experience creating digital and print graphics is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with church or non-profit environments is an asset.

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Able to build positive working relationships with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and members of the church community.
- Creative with an eye for design, layout, and visual consistency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable using Canva or similar design platforms and social media tools.
- Familiarity with Planning Center Online (PCO), Constant Contact, or similar church and communications platforms is an asset, with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic ministry environment.
- Positive, collaborative, and service-oriented, with a heart for supporting ministry.
- Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to changing ministry needs.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to assist with occasional local errands.
Position Requirements
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to work onsite in Richmond Hill, including occasional weekends as required.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Demonstrates alignment with the doctrine and statements of faith of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
