Role Overview
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations. This role ensures the timely and accurate movement of goods across North America and international markets by coordinating with suppliers, third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses, freight forwarders, and internal departments. The position supports operational efficiency, delivery accuracy, and compliance with company service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Distribution
· Schedule and monitor North American inland transportation, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to customer requirements.
· Coordinate with 3PL warehouses to ensure accurate and on-time order picking and deliveries.
· Monitor inbound shipments and vessel schedules to ensure timely material arrivals.
· Manage reverse logistics and delivery documentation with the customer service team.
· Coordinate repackaging orders with warehouses to meet customer-specific requirements.
· Import/Export Compliance & Documentation
· Oversee all import/export operations to ensure full regulatory compliance.
· Manage customs entry processes and liaise with customs brokers when needed.
· Review and process all shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
· Prepare and submit import/export documentation on behalf of the organization or clients.
Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination
· Liaise with suppliers and logistics companies to coordinate inbound/outbound shipments.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and 3PL providers.
· Negotiate competitive freight rates and service agreements with logistics providers.
· Resolve delivery, billing, and supplier-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
Operations & Process Improvement
· Track and report the status of all shipments and logistics activities.
· Review and reconcile logistics invoices, resolving any discrepancies with vendors.
· Monitor the movement of supplies and materials between departments to support production needs.
· Work closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure efficient scheduling and order fulfillment.
· Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
· Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving overall supply chain and customer satisfaction.
Reporting & Communication
· Prepare regular logistics and performance reports for management.
· Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding logistics inquiries.
· Foster a collaborative work environment through clear and effective communication across teams.
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma or degree (2 years minimum) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in logistics, including import/export operations and 3PL coordination.
