T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role supports the CEO Office in developing and executing internal and external communications that advance business priorities, strengthen corporate culture, and enhance the organization’s reputation. This role works closely with the CEO to support executive communications, including speaking engagements, press releases, and other external-facing materials.
The Senior Communications Specialist is a skilled business writer and communicator who can translate complex information into clear, engaging, and culturally informed content while effectively capturing and adapting the brand and executive voice for different audiences. Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. This role offers valuable exposure to executive communications, corporate storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and CEO Office operations.
This role is also open for a more senior position should the candidate's overall qualifications and experience be deemed suitable.
You Will
Internal Communications
- Support weekly company-wide huddles, including preparation of materials and meeting logistics to enhance employee engagement and morale
- Write thoughtful and compelling content such as internal newsletters, CEO speeches, and company statements in the brand/CEO’s voice
- Develop and manage communication flow to ensure timely and consistent messaging across all internal channels
- Support communication initiatives through content development, research, coordination, and project tracking
- Support the planning and execution of internal events such as annual strategic planning, town halls, and executive offsites
- Support the Chief of Staff in creating critical communications and correspondence
External Communications
- Support the writing and development of press releases to promote company news, achievements, and initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing team
- Draft speeches and talking points for the CEO and other senior executives, and coordinate logistics for various external speaking engagements
- Assist in crisis communication planning and execution
- Support the planning and execution of external events including interviews, public appearances, and vendor summits
- Create compelling copy for in-store signage, product displays, and engaging product descriptions (product romance) that highlight key selling points and brand storytelling to drive customer engagement and sales.
- Support thought leadership initiatives, including research and ghost-writing
- Assist with government relations initiatives, helping to build and maintain positive relationships with officials and key stakeholders
CEO Office Management
- Support in improving communication within the CEO Office and across different departments
- Support the Chief of Staff in other writing and communications as required
You Should Have / Be
- 3-5 years of experience in corporate, internal or executive communications, public/media relations, technical writing, or other business writing roles
- Strong writing skills, with an ability to learn the executive’s voice and write for different audiences
- Comfortable using AI-powered tools (including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) to support research, content development, editing, and productivity
- Highly organized, resourceful, and responsive to urgent communication needs
- Ability to effectively build relationships and collaborate across different business units
- Confident and strong communicator with all levels of the team, including executives
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Exceptional time management skills, including experience managing multiple requests and stakeholders on a tight timeline
- Energetic, self-motivated and able to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint is an asset
- Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English. Ability to understand spoken Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is required. Proficiency in written Chinese is an asset
