Position Summary:
Huron Dental Group is currently seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Permanent Full Time Billing Specialist to support billing compliance, insurance accuracy, and best practices across our growing network of 30 dental practices. The Billing Specialist will play a key role in auditing and reviewing dental billings company-wide to ensure accuracy, consistency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with insurance guidelines and industry best practices. This individual will work closely with practice managers, administrative teams, regional leadership, and finance to identify billing discrepancies, provide education and coaching, and support process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have previous dental administration experience, insurance coordination experience, or prior experience working within a dental insurance company environment. A strong understanding of dental codes, claims processing, coordination of benefits, and insurance policies is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine audits of dental claims, treatment billings, and insurance submissions across all HDG practices
- Review billing practices to ensure compliance with industry standards, insurance guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Identify billing discrepancies, trends, inefficiencies, or areas of financial risk
- Support practices in improving claim accuracy, claim acceptance rates, and overall billing efficiency
- Monitor and report on common billing errors, insurance concerns, and compliance opportunities
- Assist with implementation and standardization of billing protocols and administrative best practices across the organization
- Provide coaching and education to front desk and administrative teams regarding proper billing procedures and insurance workflows
- Assist with insurance investigations, claim appeals, and escalated patient billing concerns when required
- Maintain current knowledge of dental insurance policies, coding updates, and industry changes
- Support reporting initiatives related to accounts receivable, insurance aging, and billing performance metrics
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in dental administration, dental billing, insurance coordination, or dental claims auditing
- Previous experience working for a dental insurance company is considered a strong asset
- Strong understanding of:
Dental procedure codes
Coordination of benefits
Predeterminations and claim submissions
Insurance plans and limitations
Accounts receivable processes
- Experience working with dental practice management software (Tracker experience considered an asset)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with multiple teams and practices
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, reporting tools, and spreadsheets
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in multi-practice or DSO environments
- Knowledge of dental compliance and audit processes
- Experience creating administrative SOPs or workflow improvements
- Strong interpersonal and coaching abilities
- Ability to identify trends and proactively implement solutions

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
