We are currently seeking an Apprentice - SCADA Technician. This is a 40 hour work week involving rotating (day and night) shifts with Saturday and Sunday (various) off days. Come join our team!
- As an apprentice, you will follow and complete an 8,000 hour training program involving progressively more complex electronic work involving the installation, maintenance, testing, modification and repair work carried out on electro-mechanical, electronic and computer controlled solid state digital supervisory control systems, data acquisition systems and emergency trip systems located throughout the subway system and at various commission properties and Toronto Hydro Electric System (THES) substations;
- The work will involve the use of diagnostic equipment and software in order to determine the reason for faulty operation and the extent of repairs required; the work also involves the testing and calibration of related equipment;
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
- Requires training normally obtained through completion of a 2-year Community College graduation diploma in the field of electronics (preferred), and/or electrical
- Must pass a TTC electrical written aptitude test
- Must pass a Departmental electroincs aptitude test
- You currently have a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license in good standing.
- As a successful candidate, you will be registered with the Ontario College of Trades as an Industrial Electrician (442-A)
- You must attend and successfully complete various in-house TTC training programs for the operation of a Commission vehicle, Subway/SRT Rule Book certification, confined space entry, confined space air monitor, fall protection awareness, lifting devices (motorized), scaffold safety, asbestos awareness, and other programs for respiratory protection, hearing protection, first aid, and C.P.R.
- The above training and standard T.T.C. tests will normally be carried out during the Apprenticeship period;
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
