Perry House is seeking and individual with strong leadership skills to oversee the daily operations of our childcare program. As Supervisor, you will ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. You will guide and support a dedicated team of educators, maintain compliance with licensing regulations, and foster strong relationships with families and community partners. Supervisory Responsibilities
The job duties and responsibilities for the Supervisor include but are not limited to the following and any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or in absence by the Senior Supervisor
- The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the organization is operated in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, ELECT, How Does Learning Happen? Municipal Regulatory Bodies, Public Health Department, Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Fire Department
- The Supervisor will adhere to the Confidentiality Policy and will maintain professional boundaries and awareness of dual relationships
- The Supervisor manages Perry House Too centre directly
- While on shift with no other supervisor present the Supervisor will manage Perry House and Perry House III centres in addition to Perry House Too
- The Supervisor will be expected to step into any position as necessary (program educator, bus driver, cook)
- The Supervisor is responsible for supervising all employees, supply staff, volunteers and students
- Assists in the implementation of policies and procedures to support employees and meet the children's needs
- Assists the Executive Director in the hiring of employees, supervising and monitoring performance of staff
- Provides orientation for new hires, acts as a resource for all staff
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization
- Responsible for scheduling shifts and managing shift changes while maintaining regulatory ratios at all times
- Directly supervises, provides leadership, guidance, and assistance to the centre employees
- Ensures that all legislative requirements and regulations are implemented
- Conduct employee performance reviews annually
- The Supervisor will have a good understanding of the Perry House and Union Collective Agreement
- Assumes other responsibilities as delegated by the Executive Director
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Valid Standard First aid and Level “C” CPR Certificate
- Proof of a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Class “B” or “F” Driver’s Licence, or willing to obtain one within 6 months of hire for the requirement of driving a Perry House bus as necessary
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills in Human Resources Management, Ontario Human Rights Code, the Integrated Accessibility Standard (AODA), the Occupational Health and safety Act and Conflict Management Skills
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an RECE in a licensed child care centre
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership role or an administrative position preferred
- All health requirements to be met in accordance with the (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
- A strong understanding of “How Does Learning Happen?” ELECT Document, and Durham Region Operating Criteria (DROC)
- Strong understanding of the Perry House policies and procedures, regulations including the Child Care and Early Years Act and Public Health
- A demonstrated understanding of the College of Early Childhood Educators, Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice and Continuous Professional Learning
- Strong Interpersonal skills, capable of creating a positive, respectful, empowering relationship with employees in building a cohesive team
- Provides leadership and support to all employees, leading by example
- Demonstrates the ability to handle parent/guardian concerns in a professional manner
- Is organized, able to prioritize and manages time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Has excellent English language communication skills both written and verbal
- Maintains professionalism at all times and accepts responsibility for own actions
