Full job description

SDG Chartered Professional Accountant is a growing CPA firm based in Scarborough, specializing in small business accounting, high-net-worth clientele, cross-border tax, and complex tax planning services.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and client-focused Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong full-cycle bookkeeping experience within a CPA or accounting firm environment and be comfortable communicating directly with clients regarding bookkeeping matters, outstanding documents, and financial information requests.

This role requires someone who is highly organized, professional, and capable of managing multiple client accounts while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting both internal accounting operations and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
Maintain accurate and organized financial records using QuickBooks Online and cloud-based accounting systems
Prepare bookkeeping working papers, schedules, and financial reports for internal review
Assist with payroll processing, CRA remittances, and related compliance tasks
Communicate directly with clients regarding bookkeeping inquiries, missing documentation, outstanding records, and follow-ups
Monitor client deadlines and ensure timely collection of required financial information
Support accountants and tax professionals during month-end, year-end, and tax season
Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve bookkeeping issues
Utilize accounting technology, QuickBooks AI rules, automation tools, and AI-assisted workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client communications

Qualifications & Skills

5–10 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
Previous experience working in a CPA or accounting firm is highly preferred
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
Experience setting up and managing AI rules, bank rules, and automation workflows within QuickBooks Online
Familiarity with AI tools, automation processes, and digital bookkeeping workflows is highly preferred
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable speaking with clients and following up professionally on outstanding documentation and bookkeeping requests
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Experience supporting small business clients is considered an asset
Can start as soon as possible

Additional Requirements

Willing to commute and travel in person to Scarborough, Ontario as required
Available to attend in-person meetings, client support activities, and team collaboration sessions
Immediate start preferred
