Bedrocan Canada is preparing for it's first harvest and is building a pool of casual employees to assist in the post-harvest processing, starting with working schedule of up to 32 hours every 2 weeks and then increasing to more frequent scheduling as the production schedule ramps up.
There is an opportunity to move into permanent full time roles.
Position Overview:
The Processing Assistant is responsible for all post‑harvest activities including trimming, weighing, cleaning and sanitization activities, milling, bulk packaging, and quality checks.
Additionally, assisting in harvest and post-harvest work including cleaning and room turnover activities on the cultivation floor if required. This role ensures that cannabis flower is processed safely, consistently, and in compliance with Health Canada’s Cannabis Regulations, Good Production Practices (GPP), and internal SOPs.
The position requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, good documentation practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment with a high level of urgency, patience, and perseverance.
Wearing PPE, including a full coverall suit, medical facemask, gloves, hair net, and beard net (if applicable) is mandatory. The absence of jewellery, nail polish, and/or makeup is also mandatory. Personal Health and Hygiene policies must be followed at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dry trimming of cannabis flower by hand.
- Conduct flower-removal activities with scissors, separating flower from stems according to SOPs.
- Record data related to bag weights and other relevant metrics accurately.
- Weigh, portion, and package cannabis products according to specifications.
- Follow all GPP, sanitation, and contamination control procedures.
- Identify and report any deviations, contamination risks, or product defects.
- Ensure all work areas meet Health Canada cleanliness and security requirements.
- Maintain product integrity by handling material gently and minimizing loss.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Clean, sanitize, drying racks, tools, and workstations.
- Support inventory counts and secure storage of cannabis materials if required.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily performance targets and quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma required; post‑secondary education in horticulture, agriculture, or related field an asset.
- 1+ year of Cannabis Industry experience (commercial cannabis an asset but not required).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, fast-paced demanding environment (standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, repetitive tasks).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a secure cannabis production facility with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and strong odors.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include rotating weekends and holidays.
- Must have a clear criminal background.
- Knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations and GPP considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily working indoors within a controlled processing and cultivation, environment.
- Work hours at Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM, with occasional extended hours as needed.
- Exposure to Isopropyl Alcohol (with proper PPE and training).
- Work in hot, humid, or cold areas depending on assignment.
- Required use of PPE at all times in cultivation, processing, or secure areas

Pay: $18.50 per hour
