Commercial Banking Analyst - Construction

DUCA is looking for a Commercial Banking Analyst - Construction to join our growing team!

Job Purpose & Summary

The Commercial Banking Analyst contributes to DUCA’s Commercial Lending profitability and growth by assisting in the ongoing management of a diverse portfolio of mid-market business relationships. This position supports the Commercial Finance team in analysis, credit application write-up, portfolio management, and business development activities on a day-to-day basis.

The position works closely with the relationship managers and credit team to help ensure a strong adherence to DUCA’s risk management framework. They are expected to contribute in creating a positive, collaborative environment that aligns with DUCA’s values and purpose of helping Members ‘Do more, Be more, and Achieve more’ with their money and their lives.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

Assist with assessment of financing proposals, due diligence, research and credit applications, and make recommendations that adhere to DUCA’s policies and risk guidelines.
Prepare credit applications, including financial statement analysis, cash flow modelling, covenant assessment, third party report summaries, and industry research. Providing recommendations on structure including mitigation strategies that balance risk and Member needs.
Liaise with Members, solicitors, appraisers, brokers, and internal partners (credit, operation and finance) to support ongoing management of credit facilities.
Conduct credit reviews of existing Members and maintain annual reviews/renewals at or below targeted levels.
Communicate with Commercial Lending Members on a day-to-day basis, responding to questions and inquiries regarding products, services and advice.
Assist with portfolio management duties and other day-to-day duties.
Analyze industry segments, competitive conditions, and economic trends to assess risks and identify opportunities within the commercial portfolio.

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business/finance/economics. Master’s level degree or other related designations are considered an asset.
1-3 years’ experience in banking or related field considered an asset.
Previous experience and/or understanding of financial statement analysis.
Prior Construction lending experience preferred but not a requirement.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information, third party reports, lease agreements and assess creditworthiness.
Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Good problem solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgement to resolve issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to handle multiple competing tasks, ensuring priorities are assessed and managed to meet deadlines and organizational objectives
Effective team player and ability to work well within a group setting.

Working Conditions

Regular office working conditions.
Occasional travel to Member sites or external partners as required.

Hours per Week: 38

Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $64,023 to $80,029. Actual annual base salaries will vary depending on relevant job-related factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and education/training. This position may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
