Elementary French Teacher (Kindergarten - Grade 8)

Sathya Sai School of Toronto is an independent elementary school (JK–Grade 8) that operates in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education's requirements for private schools. The school offers a structured academic program with clear expectations, high student engagement, and a supportive parent community. The school has consistently received a 10/10 rating from the Fraser Institute since 2006.
We are seeking a French Teacher to deliver the French program from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The successful candidate will develop students' oral communication, reading, writing, and listening skills while maintaining a positive and well-organized learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver French instruction aligned with the Ontario Curriculum
- Teach Core French to students from Kindergarten through Grade 8
- Develop student skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in French
- Create engaging learning experiences that encourage confidence and participation in French
- Monitor student progress using a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies
- Maintain assessment, evaluation, and reporting aligned with Growing Success
- Establish clear classroom routines and consistent behaviour expectations
- Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate with staff
- Fulfill supervision duties, including dismissal and yard duty
Instructional Approach
- French instruction emphasizes communication, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, writing, and oral language skills.
- Students develop confidence in French through interactive lessons, games, songs, stories, discussions, and authentic language experiences.
- Instruction is differentiated to support the needs of learners across Kindergarten to Grade 8.
- Student progress is monitored through observation, conversations, and student work. Instruction is adjusted to respond to student needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- Strong oral and written French language proficiency
- Experience teaching French to elementary-aged students
- Preferred Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- French as a Second Language (FSL) qualifications or equivalent
- Experience teaching the Ontario Curriculum
- Experience teaching multiple elementary grade levels
- Strong classroom management and organization
- Effective communication with parents and colleagues
Compensation
- Salary range of $48,000 to $52,000
- Plus extended health and dental benefits, along with employer paid RRSP contribution and RRSP matching program of up to 2% of gross salary are available following the initial three-month insurer mandated contractual waiting period plus paid vacation, sick leave and personal leave
