We are looking for a full-time Labourer/Technician to support our Emergency Response Department in the role of a mitigation crew labourer. This role will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of insurance loss mitigation and restoration at the field operations level. This position involves activities including but not limited to demolition, waste clean-up, housekeeping, loading/unloading vehicles, moving/shifting content, lifting/carrying boxes etc. This job role is primarily physical in its requirements and relies on consistency and good instruction following to be successful.
You are expected to conduct yourself with a courteous and professional attitude at all times. The mitigation crew is responsible for responding quickly to residential and commercial property emergencies such as floods, fire and smoke, vandalism, or vehicle impacts etc. As a labourer/technician on the field operations team your will be required to participate in a 24hr emergency on-call rotation which covers emergencies that occur after hours or on weekends and holidays. In some circumstances you will be asked to assist the content department with activities such as the cleaning, moving, and disposing of contents.
Although experience and certification are not required for this role, it is considered an asset. ServiceMaster will provide all training, PPE, and industry specific certifications as required.
Job Requirements:
· Communicate with a wide variety of people & work effectively and cooperatively as a team
· Some experience with construction, restoration or similar work environments
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently
· Clean and maintain company equipment regularly
· Ensure supplies and chemicals are properly stocked and stored after use
· Operate with a high standard of workmanship and professionalism
· Maintain company vehicles (includes inspections, restock, clean etc)
· Assist the Lead Techs/Crew Chiefs in the daily execution of work orders and warehouse maintenance
· Be a self-starter with a high level of initiative and attention to detail
· Be punctual and consistent with scheduled shifts and on calls
· Participate in all health and safety training/meetings and use PPE as required
· Must demonstrate ethical standards and communicate calmly to resolve difficult/stressful situations
· Must have a valid clean G Ontario Driver’s License with no restrictions
Additional Requirements:
· IICRC certified in water/fire/content is a plus but not required
· Willing to submit personal information for a criminal background check (Bondable)
· General repair knowledge a huge asset, small drywall repairs, painting, rough framing etc
· Experience loading, unloading, and driving large moving trucks
· First aid, Asbestos awareness, forklift, and other relevant training considered an asset
Compensation includes hourly wage, health benefits, overtime & holiday pay, and industry certifications as required or earned. Hourly rate offered will depend on skills, experience, and certifications.
