We’re looking for a Senior Law Clerk to join our dynamic Personal Injury team. This is an opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented legal professional who takes ownership of their files, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play an important role in helping clients achieve meaningful outcomes.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Law Clerk, you’ll play an integral role in managing files and supporting the legal team from intake through trial. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing personal injury files from intake through trial
- Preparing correspondence, legal documentation, reports, and other file materials
- Assisting lawyers with preparation for examinations, hearings, motions, and trials
- Preparing and maintaining undertakings lists and following up on productions and outstanding undertakings
- Preparing and organizing productions and other litigation materials
- Managing calendars, limitation dates, deadlines, and bring-forward systems
- Liaising professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance representatives, and other third parties
- Preparing and typing court documents, pleadings, and other litigation documents
- Drafting Affidavits of Documents, Motions, Notices of Examination, Trial Records, Dismissal Orders, and related documents
- Preparing and organizing Medical Briefs
- Monitoring file deadlines and timelines to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
- Coordinating administrative and litigation-related functions to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
- Taking ownership of assigned files and proactively identifying next steps
What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who is organized, proactive, confident, and dependable. You take pride in your work, have strong attention to detail, and can manage competing priorities without losing sight of deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1–3 years of experience as a Law Clerk in Personal Injury or Insurance Defence
- A Law Clerk Diploma from a recognized college
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, court practices, and litigation procedures
- Excellent grammar, spelling, proofreading, and document preparation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing positively to a collaborative team
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and organized in a fast-paced environment
- A professional and approachable manner when dealing with clients, colleagues, counsel, and third parties
- Strong initiative and the ability to anticipate what needs to be done
- A dependable and accountable approach to your work
- A willingness to take full ownership and accountability for assigned files and responsibilities
