Full job description

For over 60 years, Brouwer Sod Farms Ltd. has grown to become one of the leading sod suppliers serving garden centres, golf courses, cemeteries, construction sites, landscapers, and homeowners throughout Ontario.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Farm Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be a skilled, dependable mechanic who takes pride in maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure our operation runs safely and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for stable, long-term employment with a well-established family business that values hard work, reliability, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Service, maintain, and repair a wide range of equipment such as but not limited to plows, cultivators, disc seed drills, fertilizer spreaders, sprayers, irrigation systems, generators, sod harvesters, trucks, and cars.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, steering, and brake system issues
Operate oxy-acetylene welding and cutting equipment
Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as required
Maintains a safe and organized work environment while adhering to all applicable safety regulations and procedures
Responsible for ordering repair parts as needed and handing in appropriate paperwork to front office for billing.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience servicing hydraulic, electrical, steering, and brake systems on agricultural and heavy equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and manage priorities
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Valid driver's licence required
AZ Licence is considered an asset but not required
421A, 425A, 310T or 310S an asset but not required.

Hours of Work

In Season:

· Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

· Occasional overtime opportunities (including Saturdays)

Off Season:

Flexible scheduling available 40 hours per week
