JOB PURPOSE:
The Finance Assistant will support the Finance team with financial reporting, analysis, month-end activities, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional business support.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial statements and management reports using Excel, SAP, and other financial systems.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
- Support process optimization and automation initiatives in collaboration with Finance leadership to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation required for audits, regulatory submissions, and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed financial records in accordance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Operations, Human Resources, and other business functions to support organizational objectives.
- Support the development and evaluation of site business strategies and objectives through active participation in Finance and Site Leadership Team initiatives.
- Promote a culture of financial accountability, continuous improvement, and sound business decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTAINMENT:
- Recent graduate with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Completion of relevant coursework in financial accounting, management accounting, and financial analysis.
JOB RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in a co-op or internship capacity, is an asset.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Strong understanding of financial accounting and analysis principles.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, and financial management systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
