About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, reliable Farm Hand to support ongoing work across several properties in the Uxbridge and Durham Region area.
This is a hands-on role for someone who already has practical farm and agricultural experience, including direct experience working with cattle, and can step in and contribute immediately.
This is not an entry-level position and we are not looking to train someone from the ground up.
The right person will be comfortable working independently, taking direction when required, identifying what needs to be done, and completing work safely and efficiently without constant supervision.
Work will vary depending on the property, season, livestock needs, and current priorities.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Daily care and handling of cattle
- Feeding, watering, and monitoring livestock
- Moving and handling cattle safely
- Identifying basic health, behaviour, or welfare concerns and flagging issues when required
- Cleaning and maintaining livestock areas, barns, pens, and fencing
- General farm and property maintenance
- Fence installation, repair, and maintenance
- Groundskeeping, mowing, trimming, and brush clearing
- Moving feed, materials, supplies, equipment, and debris
- Basic repairs and general maintenance
- Seasonal property preparation and cleanup
- Operating tractors, utility vehicles, trailers, and other farm equipment
- Using hand tools, power tools, and outdoor equipment safely
- Supporting small construction, landscaping, or property improvement projects
- General labour and other farm-related work as required
What We're Looking For
We are specifically looking for someone with previous hands-on cattle and farm experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Several years of practical farm or agricultural experience
- Previous experience working directly with cattle
- Confidence handling, feeding, moving, and working around livestock safely
- Experience maintaining fences, barns, pens, and livestock areas
- Experience operating farm or property maintenance equipment
- Strong practical and mechanical aptitude
- The ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills
- A strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding work
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
- Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence
- Strong attention to safety and care when operating equipment or working around livestock
- Dependability and the ability to show up when committed
Experience operating tractors, skid steers, compact equipment, chainsaws, trailers, mowers, snow removal equipment, or similar machinery is a strong asset.
The Person We're Looking For
We are looking for someone experienced, practical, and self-sufficient.
You are already comfortable around cattle and understand that livestock work requires consistency, awareness, good judgment, and attention to detail.
You notice when something needs to be done and don't need every step explained to you.
You take care of animals, equipment, and property, work safely, and take pride in leaving things better than you found them.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys varied outdoor work and is comfortable moving between different properties and different types of projects.
