ABOUT THE POSITION
Job Overview
The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, order, and overall appearance of public areas and back-of-house spaces. This position supports the Housekeeping Department by ensuring all assigned areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained to provide a positive experience for guests and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and maintain all assigned public areas, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms, and back-of-house areas

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and surfaces
-
Empty trash and recycling bins
-
Replenish supplies in public restrooms and common areas
-
Clean glass, mirrors, and doors in public spaces
-
Assist room attendants and housekeeping team when required
-
Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor
-
Follow housekeeping standards, schedules, and procedures
-
Maintain cleanliness of housekeeping equipment and storage areas
-
Respond to requests within the Housekeeping department, including Room Attendants and Laundry Attendants, by delivering items to various areas of the hotel.

Respond to guest requests in a timely manner and ensure service exceeds expectations.

Assist other departments as needed to maintain a clean and organized hotel environment.

Maintain a positive and friendly attitude at all times, and greet guests consistently.

Ensure all duties are completed within the shift by following checklists and fulfilling all guest and departmental requests.

Stay aware of your surroundings, especially regarding suspicious behaviour, to ensure hotel safety. Report any concerns to management immediately.
Qualifications and Requirements

Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is an asset but not required

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Good communication skills
-
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
-
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Follow safe work procedures as outlined in Departmental Policy and Procedures manuals, including the use of personal protective equipment.

Know and comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations, as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour.

Report all injuries or illnesses to a supervisor or manager immediately.
-
Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee by bringing health and safety concerns or issues to the attention of the committee.
COMPENSATION
Pay Rate
-
$19.48 per hour during probationary period. After probation, rate will change to $20.50 per hour.
