Intermediate CAD Designer

Job description

We are currently searching for a dedicated Civil CAD Designer to support our water and wastewater and land development projects. An innovative thinker, the Civil CAD Designer will work with a creative, dynamic team of Engineers, Designers and Project Managers and will have a direct impact on the successful delivery of some of the key projects in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate should be familiar and possess a keen interest in civil engineering practices as well as the linear infrastructure (watermains, sewers, forcemains).

Responsibilities

Civil design and drafting for plan and profiles, site plans, servicing and grading
Drafting of chambers, internal pipes, valves and utilities
Strict adherence to company and client drafting standards
Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information on project documentation produced in accordance with QA/QC procedures
Take direction from Engineers and Senior Designers
Efficiently and effectively handle multiple tasks independently
Coordination with other disciplines will be required on most projects.
Provide mentorship in civil design and drafting to junior staff as required
Assist in site inspections, measurements and reporting
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
Thorough knowledge and work history with AutoCAD including Civil 3D.
A solid foundation with civil engineering principles (i.e. hydraulics, statics).
Ability to work with geomatic and survey data to create base files, ground profiles and site plans.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads would be advantageous
