Job Statement:
As the Quality Assurance Team Leader, the person is the primarily responsible for examining manufactured products, ingredients and services to ensure they meet all standards of presentation, quality and food safety. Monitor and coordinate activities relating to overall process efficiency, sanitary compliance and safety.
Essential Functions
- Monitor Quality Assurance Systems programs to ensure process controls are met.
- Supervise QA Technicians and production personnel engaged in quality and food safety checks to ensure tasks are conducted in conformance to written programs and are effective.
- Act as SQF Document Coordinator – responsible for SQF document control for all departments as per SQF requirements.
- Ability to multitask and to collaborate with all departments to achieve company’s objectives.
- Conduct daily routine visual inspections (audits) on the production line to monitor quality and food safety.
- Provide training (GMP, allergen policy, pre-requisite/ CCP, Food Defense).
- Able to develop and implement new SQF procedures.
- Review and revise existing QA procedures.
- Train personnel on the new or revised QA procedures.
- Submit all new or revised QC documentation and QC procedures to SQF Document Control coordinator and Quality and Food Safety Manager.
- Involved in customer complaints investigation.
- Investigate deviations and arrange corrective and preventative actions for all the non- conforming materials.
- Assist Quality Manager in second and third-party audits.
- Assist in SQF annual internal audits as per Quality and Food Safety Manager SQF Internal Schedule.
- Update HACCP Plans and new equipment validations
- HACCP team member with active participation to the monthly HACCP meetings.
- Conducts pre-op inspection of lines when required.
- Develop and Manage QA Technician along with the schedule.
- Schedule and coordinate the annual calibration of lab equipment.
- Schedule annual metal detector validation.
- Coordinate/ execute annual projects for QA department.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Routinely check cleanliness of assembly lines and other equipment.
- Assist in the design, development and implementation of additional QA tools and techniques.
- Participate in the plant trials and lead the assessments for the trials.
- To update existing micro programs and micro documentation and conduct risk-assessments for the environmental program.
- To review and update monthly the micro trends and to present the micro trends in the monthly food safety meeting.
- To do the environmental micro swabbing testing/ ingredient micro testing/ product micro testing as per our TFF program and customer requirements.
- Responsible for the actual swabbing for the cleaning validation. Find root cause and corrective action for any failed swabbing results.
- SQF Practitioner (back-up).
Job Specifications
- College or University Degree in Food Science.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience as Quality Control in the food production plant.
- Familiar with HACCP and its implementation, experience is an asset.
- Familiar with GFSI Standards. GFSI standard SQF is an asset.
- Exhibits good communication skills and is able to work as part of a team.
- Has an eye for detail and a scientific approach to problem solving.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft office Windows programs (Excel, Word, Power Point)
