As a Commercial Underwriter, you'll work closely with brokers across Ontario, helping them find solutions for complex and specialized risks. Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business in accordance with insurer guidelines and delegated authority levels
- Review and analyze submissions to assess risk acceptability
- Prepare and deliver quotations, renewal proposals, and policy endorsements
- Evaluate coverage requirements and recommend appropriate insurance solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners
- Respond promptly to broker inquiries by phone and email, delivering professional and responsive service
- Identify opportunities to develop new business and strengthen existing broker relationships
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and records
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Commercial Underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
o Realty
o Manufacturing & Wholesaling
o Construction
o Professional Lines (Miscellaneous E&O and/or Medical Malpractice)
o Property & Casualty
o Transportation
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Lloyd's markets
- CIP designation completed or in progress
- Experience in a wholesale brokerage environment
