Location: Orono Ontario

Shift: Afternoon 2pm to 11pm

Position Overview

The Saw Operator plays a critical role in the fabrication process by accurately cutting and preparing materials for production. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. The Saw Operator works closely with other departments to support efficient workflow and meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain strict material control to support company cost targets, including monitoring material usage, minimizing waste, and managing scrap levels.
Measure and mark materials for cutting with a high degree of accuracy using tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools.
Select appropriate saw blades and machine settings based on material type, thickness, and required cut specifications.
Operate and maintain saw equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine inspections and maintenance as required.
Assist with unloading, organizing, and storing raw materials and cut stock.
Work collaboratively with fabrication, assembly, and finishing teams to support production flow.
Follow all workplace health and safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Immediately report any equipment malfunctions, hazards, or safety concerns to supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

2–5 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment (preferred).
Prior experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment is a strong asset.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cut lists, and specifications.
Strong measuring skills and ability to work confidently in both imperial and metric units.
Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency.
Proven ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.
