Job Summary
The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for performing hands-on warehouse and general labour duties, including receiving, moving, loading, unloading, and storing materials and finished products. The role also provides support with basic fabrication and production activities as required.
This position is responsible for maintaining organized material storage, supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout the facility, and assisting with inventory accuracy. The Warehouse Material Handler is also expected to maintain clean, orderly, and safe warehouse and work areas.
This role plays an important part in supporting overall operational efficiency and production workflow. All duties must be performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.
Job Requirements
- Receive, unload, unpack, and inspect incoming materials and supplies.
- Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment using pick lists.
- Package products securely to prevent damage during transit.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular cycle counts and audits to maintain accuracy.
- Ensure all materials are properly labeled, stored, and organized.
- Participate in company-provided and third-party training related to metalworking equipment, material-handling and lifting equipment, and handheld power tools.
- Safely operate tools and equipment to prepare parts and materials as required.
- Assist with basic fabrication and production activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment in compliance with company policies and OHSA standards.
- Communicate effectively with Purchasing, Production, Sales, and other departments regarding shipping, receiving, and inventory needs.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to shipments, inventory, or deliveries.
- Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year as required.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a fast paced order picking warehouse
- Experience with inventory counting and cycle counts preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Forklift certification considered an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
