Network Engineer
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
Location: Sheppard-Yonge, hybrid 3 days/week in-person
Compensation: CAD 100,000 - 120,000
We are supporting our client in their search for a Network Engineer for their office in Yonge-Sheppard.
About the Role
In this role, you'll configure, maintain, and secure our network infrastructure across corporate offices, branches, datacenters, and cloud environments — spanning LAN, WAN, and VoIP. You'll be a key contributor to a collaborative, high-performing team and play an active role in shaping our network technology roadmap.
What You'll Do
- Deploy and maintain Cisco network switches and routers
- Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and security policies
- Configure and optimize software-defined datacenter networking (VMware NSX-T)
- Investigate and resolve network infrastructure issues through configuration review and packet inspection
- Define, document, and enforce network standards, security policies, and access controls
- Administer certificates and public DNS with third-party services
- Manage patching, security compliance, backup, and recovery of network devices
- Support business continuity and participate in disaster recovery testing
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on vulnerability scanning, IPS/IDS solutions, and security remediations
- Contribute to short and long-term network technology planning and roadmap initiatives
- Work with third-party vendors and service providers to support infrastructure needs
- Share knowledge and collaborate across systems engineering, administration, and IT support teams
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in an IT-related role; 3+ years in network administration
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall and policy management (required)
- Proven experience with software-defined networking, including VMware NSX-T and SD-WAN
- CCNA or CCNP certification, or equivalent Cisco networking experience
- Experience with load balancers, DNS, and certificate management
- Strong fundamentals across: OSI model, routing/switching (OSPF & BGP), IP subnetting & NAT, VPN (IPsec, GRE, IKE), VLANs & trunking, ACLs, STP, HSRP/VRRP
- Comfortable in CLI environments with basic scripting ability
- Familiar with PAN-OS next-gen firewall administration
Nice to Have
- Wireless infrastructure experience (e.g., Ruckus)
- MPLS networking
- Networking in AWS or other public cloud environments
- VoIP experience
