Summary of Position
To support leading linen management practices and customer experience, Ecotex Healthcare Linen Service is currently seeking two (2) weekend, part-time Hospital based Linen Porters. The position services customers located in the York-Durham Region.
Duties and Responsibilities
In support of effective on-site daily linen management and distribution, and to enable a safe, comfortable patient care environment, the Linen Porter will be responsible for the following key duties:
Specific Scope of Services
- Shifts: Weekends (Sat/Sun), afternoon/evening 5:00pm-11:00pm. MUST arrive at shift 15 minutes prior to start.
- Receive and deliver clean linen carts to pre-identified areas within the Hospital.
- Ensure neat and tidy combining of linens and staging of extra linen in pre-identified storage area.
- Leadership of the Orange Return Linen Bag placement, exchange and return to the Ecotex Plant for processing.
- Collection of residual soil carts from clinical areas and staging / loading of carts on the Ecotex transport trailer.
- Staging of empty linen carts in soiled linen rooms and Waste Management area of the Hospital
- Communication with Ecotex Account Manager and client site from time to time with respect to required linen adjustments or operational considerations.
- Must treat all staff, patients and visitors with courtesy, dignity, and respect, as if you were hospital staff.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Exceptional self-directed leadership and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of healthcare and hospital linen services would be an asset.
- Minimum of grade twelve (12) or equivalent.
- Ability to push and pull 100lbs.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal required.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, and the ability to work alone or as a part of a team.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance and punctuality is a must.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and sensitivity in dealing with hospital information.
- Ability to prioritize and successfully resolve issues with high sense of urgency and customer experience focus.
- Strong attention to detail and follow through.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel.
