Dot Lighting is dedicated to helping organizations reduce energy costs and improve sustainability through our program. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead and oversee our LED lighting retrofit and installation projects from initiation to completion. This role requires strong technical expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to coordinate with external electricians and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies, vendor and risk management, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for managing the planning, coordination, and execution of LED lighting retrofit projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to coordinate with electricians, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electrical installations, project management, and lighting retrofit projects, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all LED retrofit and installation projects from planning through completion, ensuring materials, staffing, and resources are managed effectively.
- Coordinate schedules, tasks, and deliverables with external electricians and subcontractors.
- Deliver projects on time, within scope and budget, while maintaining exceptional quality for our clients.
- Ensure strict compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Control costs and maximize productivity through the implementation of best practices and standardized processes.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by responding promptly to concerns, attending site visits and meetings, and managing communications to ensure satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical or operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Proactively assess risks and maintain a safe, healthy work environment.
- Prepare accurate project documentation, including progress reports and completion records.
- Support business development by fostering customer relationships and identifying opportunities for future projects.
- Travel to project site is required.
- Occasional evening or after-hours work may be required to accommodate project schedules or minimize disruption to client operations.
Qualifications
- College diploma in a technical discipline or skilled trade certificate.
- Valid Ontario Electrical License (309A) – required
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License – required
- Health & Safety certifications (WHMIS, Working at Heights) – preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification – considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical project management.
- Experience in LED lighting retrofit or construction projects for mid-size or large commercial, institutional, or residential buildings.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $1 million or more.
- Experience supervising teams of 5 or more installers or electricians.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of LED lighting systems, smart lighting controls, and Bluetooth motion sensors.
- Solid understanding of electrical installation procedures and construction site operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership and team coordination capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and client service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Mandarin language is preferred.
Salary
$72,000~$100,000 per year (base + incentives)
