DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To use nursing process in providing patient care in a primary nursing environment. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
- Current BCLS;
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in an Inpatient Mental Health and/or addictions setting, is required.
- Canadian Mental Health Nursing Psychiatric Nursing Certificate is preferred;
- Proven to have experience in an acute Mental Health setting;
- Demonstrated excellent knowledge of, and experience in group theories and dynamics;
- Proven experience with working with a multidisciplinary team;
- Proven completion of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Program;
- Proven ability to recognize and diffuse escalating or violent patients;
- Ability to conduct Mental Health Assessment with excellent interviewing and communication skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Community Mental Health Resources;
- BScN Degree is required;
