Quality Assurance Test Engineer:
Reviews and generates Quality Test Plan packages based on customer and industry specifications and standards, manages resources, inputs, and outputs, performs test setup and test measurements and prepares test reports. While focusing on qualification testing, this position must also develop new testing techniques and liaise with test technicians and the Project Planner, feeding responses and reports back to the Senior Test Engineer and Quality Director.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience operating both electrical and mechanical test equipment. Opportunities for advancement and growth include Senior QA Test Engineer or Quality Engineer.
What does a Quality Assurance Test Engineer do? (including but are not limited to):
- Understand customer, industry standards (i.e., Mil Spec, Aerospace, etc.) and internal QTP qualification test requirements
- Quality Test Quotation
- Quality Test Plan preparation
- Test procedure writing and flow down to test technicians
- Establish standard test methods and procedures
- Perform qualification tests per established QTP and record measurements
- Test Fixture identification and development
- Generate test reports
- Part/supply identification for test requirements
- Communication of part and fixture requirements to appropriate team members
- Schedule review and reporting
- Collaboration with external supplier Test Labs
- Asset Requisition writing
- Assist with product qualification, development, and failure analysis investigation and report writing
- Knowledgeable in laboratory quality, safety, and site administrative policies and expected to act in a manner consistent with these policies and procedures.
- Abide by all Health and Safety Rules and have demonstrated commitment to good housekeeping/organizational practices.
- Expected to work with and contribute to continuous improvement in such ways as participating in cross-functional teams.
- Commit to self-development goals as discussed with your supervisor and attend all company-sponsored training.
- Establish standard project planning methodologies for typical tests and procedures, and work with Process Engineering to assist with scheduled development of test fixtures (mechanical, electrical, specialized)
- Maintain, communicate, and archive reports as required
- Instruct, mentor, and guide students and other lab assistants on as-needed basis
- Respond to root cause corrective actions as a participating team member
- Other responsibilities as required to support the Quality Test Lab and Quality Department
What you bring to the table?
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- PEng or ability to obtain PEng
- 3-5 years practical experience
- Test Engineering Experience in electrical and mechanical testing. Environmental testing a plus
- Project Planning
- Good written and verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Computer skills and MS Office
- Self-motivation and excellent time management
- Knowledge of quality concepts and testing methods
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Asset to Have:
- PMP Certification
- Statistical and quantitative methods
- Reliability and risk management knowledge
- Soldering, Testing and Failure Analysis experience
- Test fixture design experience
- Project Management skills
