We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join an education-based organization in North York, Ontario on a Contract basis. This role will support a busy finance team during a period of increased workload by helping organize records, reconcile transactions, and prepare documentation for audit review. The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, solid spreadsheet skills, and the ability to manage administrative and accounting tasks in a structured onsite environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain organized financial records by filing, scanning, and cataloguing documents for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Reconcile corporate card transactions by matching receipts, identifying discrepancies, and updating tracking files accurately.
- Compile and prepare supporting documentation for audit activities, including digital copies and shared-file records.
- Enter accounting data into spreadsheets and financial systems while following required naming conventions and document formats.
- Assist with general ledger postings and provide day-to-day support across accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks as needed.
- Help clear a backlog of finance-related records and transactions to keep the department current and well organized.
- Use Excel functions such as PivotTables and VLOOKUP to sort, validate, and summarize financial information.
- Contribute to team coverage and continuity by supporting a range of accounting activities across the department.
- At least 1 year of experience in an accounting clerk or similar finance support role.
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliation and processing financial documentation.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and invoice handling.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
- Familiarity with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Oracle, or SAP is considered an asset.
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail when managing financial records and file formats.
- Ability to work onsite in North York, Ontario and manage priorities in a fast-paced team setting.
