SUMMARY
The Engineering Test Technician will support development and improvement initiatives as defined under the guidance of the supporting Test Engineer and Production Team members. The Technician will be the acting Subject Matter Expert for a given customer, test and troubleshoot and be the acting mentor for Test Operators and Troubleshoot including certification of new and existing employees to support the daily operations of manufacturing. Various duties include but are not limited to performing functional test, troubleshoot and diagnostic, test plan review and validation, fixture acceptance, calibration and spare part support and simple script and test ATE management.
The incumbent will be expected to perform all the functions of a Test Troubleshooter including the opportunity to provide leadership, training and direction to production technicians and feedback/support for Test Engineering. This position reports to the VP of Global Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Set up and validate test equipment, software and fixtures for customers’ products and PCBAs.
· Lead best practices and future state initiatives.
· Perform Functional Test acceptance checklist and address gaps in coordination with engineering and customer.
· Mentor and Train Test Operators, Test Technicians and Troubleshoots on new and existing processes and certification for test procedures/ requirements.
· Assist in enhancements of existing test processes including improvements, data collection, automation and related quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Create and update detailed test procedures leveraging customer documentation and Vexos procedures,
· Working in coordination of Test and Manufacturing engineering to optimize test flow and sequencing.
· Establish and maintain a continuous improvement action register and weekly cadence for review with peers
· Review No Fault Found (NFF) and False Fail and develop and establish test recommendation/ feedback to address/ optimize or eliminate in coordination with test engineering.
· Develop and maintain calibration, preventative maintenance and spare parts requirements and compliance for responsible products.
· Analyze, debug and support “non-functional” test stations, fixtures and equipment and establish a plan to minimize down time.
· Mentor/Train test engineers and technicians on performing test process, provide additional documentation if needed.
· Ensure the safety of the test operator and/or technician is designed into the test process and never jeopardized.
· Evaluate test cycle times and provide a capacity measurement report for stations and manpower based on product demand loaded.
· Support and provide input to on-site engineering team to improve test coverage.
· Evaluate customer Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), identify hardware and software impact on test process, provide cost/labor changes if applicable; implement ECO when all technical/cost related items are submitted and resolved.
· Validate/Update test programs with customer Engineering Change Notice (ECN) - Altering the test programs to meet new customer test requirements.
· Backup all test programs – Ensure a spare copy for test programs is available or obtain from installation s/w from customer or development group, if not stored on the network.
· Ensure/Prepare a list of necessary spares used on the test stations such as cables, connectors and test equipment to reduce down time.
· Support Test FMEA, Cpk, Gauge R&R and related Functional Test Acceptance and Release criteria.
· Work with engineering in coordinating and implementing activities to support successful new product launches.
· Ensure compliance and adherence to recording, tracking of activities and quality records to support quoting and manufacturing system execution.
· Work with manufacturing, test and program management with technical input to support RMA and rework quote activities.
· Responsible for ensuring that any outstanding audit requirements, including NCAR’s (corrective actions) are followed through in an expedient and timely manner and to the due dates specified.
· Perform other tasks as requested from supervisor or designate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience combined
· Hardware and Software support Experience
· Experience in an ISO 9002 environment
· Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems preferred
· A minimum of 5 years in Electronics or related Test engineering experience
· 1+ years extensive hands-on experience with ISO-9000 registered environment required.
· Electronics Contract Manufacturing experience preferred
· Excellent Leadership, Mentoring and Project Management skills.
· Self-starter, a team player, good communication skills and able to handle multiple tasks smoothly
· Excellent knowledge of design for test, coverage on related functional test specifications including detailed schematic analysis.
· Excellent knowledge Labview/CVI/Teststand, C++, JTAG/BSCAN Methodology, Python and related development toolsets.
· Effective problem solving and organization skills
· Detail and Quality Oriented
· Effective technical communication (both written and verbal)
· Expert Failure Analysis and Troubleshoot skills
· Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Gerber Viewer, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and PC knowledge required.

LOCATION
· The position location is based in Markham, Ontario facilities (Building A and/or Building B)
· Incumbent must be open to working at both facilities as business and operational needs dictate
HOURS OF WORK AND NORMAL SCHEDULE – 100% ON-SITE
The normal hours of work for this position is day shift Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm however a flex schedule is available based on team coverage and business needs within the core hours of 9 am to 4 pm upon supervisory pre-approval. This position is required to be 100% on-site.
