UCA is looking for a full time Apprentice Technician position. This is an onsite position in our Markham office.
WHAT’S THE JOB ABOUT?
Reporting to the Manager, Shop Installations, The Apprentice Technician is to support the production, testing, and installation of electrified and mechanical door hardware. This role is ideal for someone with a solid electronics background who enjoys practical, physical work and is eager to learn specialized skills in a shop and field environment.
Some of the work you will do, but not limited to:
- Assemble and terminate wire harnesses according to technical specifications
- Conduct testing, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting on electrified hardware, including locks, exit devices, and hinges
- Perform general shop duties, including housekeeping, material organization, and workflow support
- Prepare, wrap, and package doors and hardware for shipment
- Sort, move, and handle doors and related components in a safe and efficient manner
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including preparing orders and organizing outgoing materials
- Operate a forklift and other material‑handling equipment
- Assist with the installation of basic door hardware under the guidance and supervision of senior technicians
- Other duties as assigned.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU WHO HAS:
- Completion of a technical or vocation program related to Electronic or Electrical engineering technology is an asset
- Experience in electronics is an asset
- Forklift certificate is an asset
- Ability to lift and handle heavy materials safely
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Reliable, safety‑minded, and detail‑oriented
- Comfortable working in a shop environment and performing repetitive tasks
- Team‑oriented with a positive attitude
