Our after-school programs combine academic support, guided play, mindfulness, hands-on enrichment and Sportball programming. Through this balanced approach, we help children build confidence, strengthen foundational skills and develop healthy habits for both learning and life.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dependable and caring individuals to join our team as After-School Program Leaders, Tutors and Sportball Coaches.

Position Overview
The After-School Program Leader supports children ages 5–10 through structured tutoring, homework assistance, guided play, enrichment activities and physical-literacy programming.
You will help children develop their literacy and numeracy skills, lead creative educational activities and introduce fundamental movement and sport skills through Sportball programming.
Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment where every child feels included, supported and inspired.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and actively engage children in daily after-school activities.
- Provide homework support and small-group tutoring in literacy, numeracy and other core subjects.
- Lead creative enrichment activities, including art, STEM challenges, educational games and mindfulness exercises.
- Deliver age-appropriate Sportball activities that introduce children to a variety of sports and fundamental movement skills.
- Encourage physical activity, teamwork, confidence, coordination and sportsmanship.
- Adapt activities to meet different learning styles, abilities and comfort levels.
- Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive and structured environment.
- Support children through patient guidance and positive role modelling.
- Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers about daily highlights and student progress.
- Help prepare activity areas, learning materials and sports equipment.
- Support the Back to the Basics philosophy of balancing education, wellness, movement and personal growth.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience working with children ages 5–10 in an educational, recreational, coaching or childcare setting.
- Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.
- A caring, energetic, patient and dependable personality.
- Confidence leading both classroom-based and physical activities.
- Ability to create a positive and structured environment while keeping children engaged.
- Willingness to complete all required training.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Preferred
- Diploma, degree or coursework in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Recreation, Kinesiology or a related field.
- A teaching certificate or experience as a teacher, educational assistant or tutor.
- Previous experience providing support or delivering educational programming.
- Experience coaching children or leading sports and physical-literacy activities.
- A background in wellness, fitness, recreation or mindfulness.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it.
Sportball training and program guidance will be provided.
